Child Safety Standards

sugarFRUIT has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and for child sexual abuse material (CSAM). These standards explain what that means, how to report a concern, and what we do about it. They apply to the sugarFRUIT website and the sugarFRUIT mobile app, and to everyone who uses them.

They should be read together with our Terms of Use, Community Guidelines and Privacy Policy.

1. sugarFRUIT is for adults only

You must be at least 18 years old to create a sugarFRUIT account or use sugarFRUIT. Everyone confirms their date of birth when they sign up, and an account can't be created for anyone under 18.

If you think someone on sugarFRUIT is under 18, please report it (see Section 3).

2. What is prohibited

The following are strictly prohibited on sugarFRUIT:

  • child sexual abuse or exploitation of any kind;
  • child sexual abuse material (CSAM), including creating, uploading, sharing, requesting or linking to it;
  • grooming a minor for sexual exploitation;
  • sexualizing or sexually exploiting minors;
  • sextortion involving a minor; and
  • trafficking or soliciting a minor for sexual exploitation.

This applies everywhere on sugarFRUIT, including profiles, photos, messages, Groups and Events, and to anything arranged through sugarFRUIT.

3. How to report a concern

In the sugarFRUIT app or on the website, use Report from a member's profile or from a conversation. Choose "Underage concern" if you think someone is under 18, or the reason that fits best, and add any details that will help us understand what happened.

You can also email us at hey@sugarfruit.ca.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services or police first.

4. What we do

We review child-safety reports promptly. When sugarFRUIT obtains actual knowledge of CSAM or CSAE on sugarFRUIT, we take appropriate action, including removing the prohibited content and taking enforcement action against the account responsible.

A substantiated CSAE or CSAM violation may result in the immediate removal of content and a ban of the account responsible.

5. Authorities and law enforcement

Where applicable law requires it, sugarFRUIT reports confirmed CSAM to the appropriate child-safety authority or regional reporting body.

We cooperate with lawful requests from law enforcement and relevant child-safety authorities. We disclose information about members only in response to lawful requests, or as otherwise described in our Privacy Policy.
